The support of the UGPA association for underprivileged students of EPP Akato
The “Un Geste Pour l’Avenir” (UGPA) association distributed school kits to students without support at the Akato-Viépe Public Primary School in the Golfe7 municipality on Friday, October 15, 2021. Following last year’s initiative at the Sagbado Public Primary School, the Un Geste Pour l’Avenir association extended its support this year to the Akato-Viépe Public Primary School as part of its efforts to assist underprivileged children in the school
environment. About a hundred students from vulnerable families benefited from school kits consisting of notebooks, pens, pencils, colored pencils, erasers, geometry sets, and plastic covers.
Both students and the teaching staff appreciate UGPA’s action. This gesture came at the right time to meet the needs of these needy students. We would like to thank the association for thinking of helping the children at the beginning of the school year, and we hope that this initiative will continue as it has fulfilled a significant part of the needs of students without support. We lack school buildings and desks, and we hope that our partners will also help us in this regard,” said Gédéon Kouma Tsefnon, a teacher at EPP Akato-Viépe.
This event was made possible thanks to the contribution of members of the “Un Geste Pour l’Avenir” association, with its President Adam Bassina Djato, and also with the support of their partner, the IMPACT association, and its President Salif Sissoko. This action relieved parents who do not have the means to provide school supplies to their children, and it will also allow students to have a successful school year.
“We chose EPP Akato-Viépe for the second edition of this activity. For us, it is about assisting these children with essential school items, and this fulfills one of our objectives. We know that our government is doing its best, but we can say that it is insufficient, so we need the contribution of NGOs, associations, and partners to complement certain needs, and it is our duty to all,” said the Secretary-General of the “Un Geste Pour l’Avenir” association, Patrick Ahontor.
Founded in September 2020, the “Un Geste Pour l’Avenir” association intervenes in several areas, including health, education, social development, and, above all, the well-being of children. Several actions have already been carried out in this regard.
